About

A decade of watching good technology fail for non-technical reasons

I've spent more than a decade in and around cloud communications, carrying a $30M+ enterprise portfolio at AT&T, three roles across two stints at RingCentral, building an enablement and sales ops function from scratch at Cloud Elements, and owning the compensation enablement program 400+ sellers relied on at Twilio.

The pattern that shows up everywhere: the platform was almost never the problem. Someone bought good software and then nobody used it the way it was meant to be used, or the rollout skipped the part where you find out what people actually do all day. Fixing that is unglamorous and it's most of the job.

Then I spent three years as a financial advisor, which sounds like a detour and wasn't. It's where I championed the rollout of an internal GPT knowledge system to a team of ten in a regulated environment, not as the AI person, but as one of the people whose day it was supposed to improve. The same adoption problem I'd been watching for a decade, on a much faster clock and with a much higher cost of being wrong.

Now at Matrice IT Advisors I build full contact center environments on Zoom and Dialpad: agentic voice and chat agents, quality and workforce management, intent-based skill paths into connected APIs, and the guardrails and human handoff that decide whether any of it survives production. I hold the Zoom ZCX/ZVA AI Deployment and Dialpad Contact Center & Agentic Delivery Partner certifications, one for each platform I build on, plus Python 3 through Codecademy, because I'd rather read the integration code than be briefed on it.

I'm in Denver. I earned my MBA at the University of Denver while working full time, which is a slower way to do it and taught me more about prioritization than any of the coursework did.

  • Justin has been a sensational partner in my time @ Twilio. As a complete end-to-end owner of our sales compensation field enablement function, he developed and evangelized a scalable, effective, and empowering program which proved to be of tremendous value to both our sales team and internal GTM Operations groups.

Justin prioritizes not only setting his customers and peers up for success - he leads by prioritizing "training the trainer", giving sales leadership the confidence to effectively coach and guide their teams through any policy, process, or tool we deployed.

Equally, if not more valuable, was Justin's emphasis on the scoping, design and facilitation of an internal knowledge base. This provided tremendous value in our pursuit of optimizing internal efficiencies, cross-training, deduplication of efforts, and change management to ensure our team was equally armed with relevant and current guidance it required to be effective.

Most recently, Justin shifted his focus to how Twilio could best transform its Sales Enablement function at an enterprise level - developing an effective operational model for a centralized Enablement team. This included a simple, yet effective framework for the intake, refinement, prioritization, and negotiation of how and where resources should be deployed for optimal effectiveness and impact.

Beyond Justin's core areas of ownership, he consistently leads by example, stretching himself and others to contribute in meaningful ways outside of their function. Justin volunteered for a leadership position on our Employee Engagement Council, emphasizing population-level, feedback-driven identification and prioritization of high-value and impact areas to build enduring cohesiveness across a rapidly scaling GTM organization. He also created and drove recurring cross-functional Coffee Talk sessions - bringing in function and thought leaders from across the organization to tell their stories, bringing transparency to their initiatives, career journeys, and wisdom to build a more informed, connected and inspired department.

And finally, Justin has been a trusted and valued partner as a coach, mentor, confidant, and sounding board to me and many here @ Twilio, regardless of level, role, or function. His ability to build authentic and deep relationships across multiple value streams has shown that Justin is precisely the type of leader any organization would be positively impacted by having lead its Enablement function as it looks to scale and take this capability to the next level.

  • I first worked with Justin when he was in a department that I supported and he was great as a learner in my trainings. He was adept at applying the learning to his work and would often take the practical back to his team.

When it came time to expand the learning and development team it was an easy decision to pursue Justin, the hard part was taking him from his managers.

Justin was easy to manage in that he did not need management at all. He is a self starter and worked well with little supervision. We could determine a path and Justin was able to figure out how to execute at a high level often improving on the concept to better the learning experience.

Justin posses high work ethic that makes him excel at his duties. He also has the analytic skills that allow him to diagnose a situation and devise a solution quickly. He remains calm during times of high stress and manages crisis effectively. I can recommend Justin with out reservation and believe him to be an asset to any organization.
